These jewellery boxes are made out of maple and they are constructed with dove tails on the corners. On the base there is mahogany sandwiched in between and moulded. There is veneering on the top and little compartments divided up inside all made out of mahogany. There is a water based finish on the outside and an oil finish on the inside.
This is a project that first year furniture design students do to practice joints and marquetry. Great attention is paid to the construction of the joints.
