International Day

Well done to the Student Council for organising a colourful Intercultural lunch time event last Thursday. Zach on piano and Sophie on vocals entertained us while the rest of the student council offered around some of the tasters they had prepared.

DFEi teachers, Tara Lovett and Eoghan Ó Murchadha speak at TEDx

Well done to DFEi teachers Tara Lovett and Eoghan Ó Murchadha who spoke recently at a TEDx event hosted by BCFE in November. The theme was ‘Creativity’. A group of speaker from different third level and further education colleges presented their ideas creative approaches to education and teaching.

Science Week at DFEi

We had lots of fun with fire last week. Flamable gas was pumped into a beaker with washing up liquid. The bubbles created held the gas so one match set arms and furniture alight.

Award of Excellence at Abu Dhabi Worldskills

Congratulations to Sean Hogan and his teacher Declan Barrett. Sean was awarded a medal of excellence at the recent WorldSkills competition which took place in Abu Dhabi last month.

Team Ireland competitor Sean Hogan will represent Ireland in the trade of Cabinetmaking at the 44th WorldSkills Competition.

Journalism Students Progress to 2nd Year Degree

Congratulations to second year Journalism students Niall Byrne and Sian Long, who will be progressing to second year of the Degree in Journalism at DIT as part of the Advanced Entry link between DFEi and DIT. Both students are delighted. "It is great to see this link benefit our Journalism students," said Gemma Cox, Coordinator for Journalism. "Both students worked hard and really deserve this success."
