The most important resource of any organisation is its staff. This course will give students the skills to professionally and confidently manage people from recruitment to retirement. Students will learn to mediate conflict and to deal with employee challenges and will graduate from this course with a thorough grasp of Employment Law and Industrial Relations. Skilled HR managers are in demand in industry.
This course will open doors for students into the workplace or give students a solid springboard from which to progress to Third Level education.

Administration Practice 6N4169
Acquire the relevant expertise, skill and competence to work in an independent capacity i.e. a supervisory position in an administrative role in the private, public or voluntary sector. Learn how to evaluate current legislation and good practice guidelines on areas relevant to administration to include health and safety, data protection, corporate governance, employment and equality.
Assessment: Portfolio/Collection of Work (50%), Project (50%).
Personal and Professional Development 6N1949
This is not life coaching! However it is an opportunity to take stock and to evaluate your personal and professional goals. Through humorous workshops, lively group discussions and practical exercises we will shine a light on the following techniques: Stress Management, Conflict Management, Managing Change, Decision Making, Goal Setting, Delegation and Team Working.
Assessment: Portfolio/Collection of Work (50%), Skills Demonstration (50%).
Supervisory Management 6N4329
This programme focuses on managing people, processes and information at a supervisory level of management. Management theory and practices are examined to build the learners understanding of the role and function of the supervisor whilst also considering the challenges associated with management..
Assessment: Portfolio/Collection of Work ( 40%), Skills Demonstration ( 60%).
Word Processing 6N4977
A high-level certification equips the learners with the skills to use the advanced features of a word processing application to enhance their work and improve productivity. Skills include advanced formatting, footnotes/endnotes, forms, tables of contents, indexes, cross-referencing, macros, sections, collaborative editing. Completion of this module will enable candidates to demonstrate efficiency and professionalism in the creation, production, review, and distribution of documents.
Assessment: Portfolio/Collection of Work (100%).
Payroll Manual and Computerised 6N4005
This module enables the learners to interpret the main provisions of a range of legislation and regulations relating to working time. To facilitate the development of learner skills in analysing employee documentation received from Revenue Commissioners and the effectiveness of Revenue online services for employees and employers To develop learner skills in processing the payroll manually and computerised for employees taxed on normal, temporary and emergency systems using various methods of payments and deductions, to include tax credit and threshold changes, and in completing all employer tax returns forms.
Assessment: Assignment (60%), Examination - Practical (40%).
Customer Service 6N0697
Level 6 Customer Service allows learners to gain an understanding of the importance of customer service in all types of organisations. Learners explore the role of good customer service in the profitability/effectiveness of an organisation and consider the responsibilities of management and staff in delivering good customer service.

Human Resource Management 6N3750
The purpose of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in human resource management principles to enable the learner to apply these to the planning, organising, implementation, evaluation and revision of human resource management practices for the attainment of organisational goals.
Assessment: Examination - Theory (40%), Project (30%), Skills Demonstration (30%).
Employment Law 6N4322
The purpose of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the principles of employment law and the statutory frameworks which regulate the employment relationship.
Assessment: Assignment (60%), Examination - Theory (40%).
Conflict Management 6N2775
The purpose of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence required to critically engage with the theory and practice of conflict management in community settings.
Assessment: Assignment (30%), Project (50%), Learner Record (20%).

This course is supported by FIT (Fast Track into IT), which offers students the opportunity to acquire essential skills to gain employment. Students are given training in job interview techniques and CV preparation.
Assessment techniques will be used to assess the knowledge and skills that students will have achieved on successful completion of modules:
