Lunchtime Events

There’s always a buzz about DFEi at lunchtime. You will often see the other students using their talents singing and playing on the stage. We have a professionally equipped sound stage. Sometimes the Sound Engineers do very cool DJ sets that will have you rocking in the aisles over your sandwich.

The place can smell pretty awesome too as the Champion Bakers show off their home-made goodies at the Charity Bake sales. The event management students arrange Blind Date and Talent Shows, which are a riot and even stretch to the evening with gigs like the Hallowe’en fright night.

Students from Blackrock BFEi sometimes come in to practice shoulder massage on willing students which can be very soothing when you’re feeling a little stressed.

DFEi not only has a super radio studio, it even has its own radio station The WAVE in February every year. The Film and TV students can often be seen shooting their dramas and documentaries around the campus.

On International Day students are encouraged to share their cultural traditions in everything from cooking to dancing which not only adds to the colour of the place, it encourages understanding of different traditions.

As well as seeing lots of people around DFEI you will often see the cutest dogs on the grounds as they check in for their pooch pampering with the dog grooming students. There is even a ‘Shave Or Dye’ event for the doggies.

All of this makes your day at DFEi a stimulating, relaxed and fun environment.

Vantastival

For the last number of years, students from the Higher National Diploma in Music Production have run a stage at the Vantastival festival in Beaulieu House, Co. Louth. Students do everything from auditioning and booking acts to running the live sound and lights, deciding the running order, and even performing. It's a great way to gain incredible practical experience and also a fun weekend marking the end of the academic year

Student Council

The student council is made up of student representatives from each class. Every October the student council along with some teachers head off to Knockree in Wicklow for a teambuilding night weekend. A great way for the student council to get to know each other. Always a highlight of the year.
