The students in the DFEi Health Department will be running another shoe box appeal this December for Focus Ireland.

Focus Ireland are asking for non-perishable food items, new clothing for children and warm and practical hats, scarfs, gloves, socks and underwear for adults. Toiletries are always in demand.

They are also looking for any food or toy vouchers.

The reason for asking for vouchers is so that families living in emergency accommodation can buy their own toys and gifts for their children based on what their children are asking Santa for.

By doing this it empowers families to make decisions for themselves and gives them choices, it allows them to play Santa for their own children rather than someone else deciding what their child would like for Christmas or what their family will have for Christmas dinner.

They are asking for toys and gifts not to be wrapped, each wrapped parcel has to be opened to ensure children and families are kept safe and given age-appropriate toys that have no choking hazards.

There will be a collection box at reception to drop any donations into from the 28th of November.

All donations need to be in by 14th December
