Final-year students on the Higher National Diploma in Music Production celebrated the launch of this year’s releases on the DFEi record label with a packed-out gig in Dublin city centre last week. The concert was headlined by Radical Centrists, a four-piece political rock-rap group from Dublin and Norway who had the crowd bouncing to songs like “Slave To My Ambition” and “Killing Ideology”. Singer-songwriter Padraig MacMahon captivated early arrivals with his stunning voice and emotional acoustic tunes. Both artists had CDs for sale on the night which had been designed and produced by the HND students. Former DFEi student ‘Don Kobz’ and his group Heavy Head Athletic completed the line-up for the gig with a gritty, original and very Dublin take on nineties-style hip hop which had the crowd calling out for more.
