May 2019

Celebrating 10 years of Furniture Design and Making, Siting Pretty showcases the astounding flair, creativity and innovation of pas and current students. The exhibtion in Dun Laoghaire Lexicon library rus until June 23rd.

Last Thursday, May 23rd DFEi's furniture design exhibition opened in the Lexicon Library in Dun Loaghaire. We were delighted to have an Cathairlaoch Ossian Smyth officially open the exhibtion. It was most interesting and inspiring listening to our special guests, Bill Vernon, Marketing and Product Development Specialist and Dave Tracey, Joinery Works Manager at John Sisk & Son.  Both men have a vast depth of knowledge of the furniture making and manufacturing industry from all corners of the world. Their message can only inspire those embarking on a career in this area. There are plenty of opportunities for Irish design and craftmanship and  apprenticeships as a option for young people can be the start of a fulfilling and exciting career.

This exhibtion celebrates 10 years of furniture design and making in DFEi. It We in DFEi could not be prouder to exhibit these pieces created by some of our best students. We hope you enjoy a stroll around the Sitting Pretty exhibtion and witness how wood has been transformed into stunning artefacts.

Special thanks to all the staff in DFEi who worked so hard to bring about this exhibition. Huge gratitude to Susie Lynam and Mark Geraghty who had the vision and determination to make it all happen.

Thank You
