DFEi is delighted to be a supporting partner of Media Literacy Ireland and the ‘Be Media Smart’ campaign. Media literacy Ireland is a network of members interested in empowering all Irish people with the skills and confidence to be able to critically evaluate media content. The network is facilitated by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. The ‘Be Media Smart’ campaign coincides with European Media Literacy Week and is asking all of us to Stop, Think, Check when we come across information on any media platform. The campaign is particularly concerned with helping us identify sources of information that may be unreliable, as well as deliberately false or misleading. For more information on ‘Be Media Smart’ go to www.bemediasmart.ie

Software development, film and television students were given a fantastic opportunity to see the operation the international technology company Google. The group heard about the kinds of opportunities within the company that students like themselves could aspire to and they got an up-close glimpse of the casual and innovative business culture in vast Dublin Google campus. Included in the tour was lunch in one of the many themed hip Google on-site restaurants and cafes. DFEi are appreciative of the close relation that has developed between DFEi and Google over the past number of years.
