Software development, film and television students were given a fantastic opportunity to see the operation the international technology company Google. The group heard about the kinds of opportunities within the company that students like themselves could aspire to and they got an up-close glimpse of the casual and innovative business culture in vast Dublin Google campus. Included in the tour was lunch in one of the many themed hip Google on-site restaurants and cafes. DFEi are appreciative of the close relation that has developed between DFEi and Google over the past number of years.

Congratulations to The Dominoes from Newpark who won The Battle of the Bands. What a fantastic performance. The DFEi canteen was rocking as the bass guitarist Xochitl got the audience warmed up. They performed their own songs and were so well rehearsed appeared very relaxed on stage and were enjoying the music as much as the audience. The two other bands who performed were Fidelity Radio from Sandford Park and Red Velvet from Blackrock College and Newpark. Great energy from all participating bands and for many of us mature adults it definitely felt like we were back in college. Thanks to DFEi students from MP1 and MP2 who worked very hard on sound. Thanks to all the teachers in the sound and music production department who helped with this event.
Congratulations to the six bands who competed in the first round heats of Battle of the Bands 2019. Alibi Islands from Rockjam School opened the show with a colourful ensemble and amazing lead vocals. Sandford Park Fidelity Radio were up next full of energy and rock star angst.. Next up a three piece rock band called Sheep from North Wicklow Educate Together rocked the house. The final act, The Dominoes from Newpark delighted us all with lively tunes and some audience participation. The two acts to go through to the final on 28th January were The Dominos and Fidelity Radio. Thanks to all bands for coming along and hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
